Picnic in the Bush or Lunch at the Lodge

By late morning, you have the choice to return to the lodge for a freshly prepared lunch or carry picnic boxes and enjoy a meal in the heart of the park. If you choose the bush picnic, you’ll be dining in the company of nature, surrounded by bird calls and the distant silhouettes of grazing wildlife.

Observation Hill – Amboseli’s Best Viewpoint

In the afternoon, continue your game drive and make your way to Observation Hill, located in the southwestern part of the park. From here, a 360-degree panoramic view awaits — the glistening swamps, vast dusty plains, and on clear days, the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in all its glory. This is also a great spot to watch hippos wallowing in the water below.

Afternoon Game Drive – Wildlife in Action

As the day cools, Amboseli’s wildlife becomes more active. Predators begin to stir, antelope gather in herds, and elephants often move in large family groups across the horizon. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the diversity of species here, from regal crowned cranes to vibrant bee-eaters.

The experience is made even richer by the park’s unique ecosystem — although Amboseli is often dry, it remains swampy in certain areas due to underground water from Kilimanjaro’s melting snow feeding the marshes.

Evening at the Lodge

Return to your lodge in the evening, where a hot shower, a delicious dinner, and the sounds of the African night await you. You might hear distant lion calls or the gentle trumpeting of elephants as you drift off to sleep, ending a day that captures the very essence of an African safari.
